elric1911 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 the game keeps crashing when it is loading missions. I was able to do the FAM course in training, but the other training missions crash and Missions, Campaign and Instant Action all crash towards the end of them loading. here is the *.crash file # -------------- 20090515-064519 -------------- C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 6CE25738 01:00014738 # # EAX = 00050202 # EBX = 0019B410 # ECX = 00000502 # EDX = 001AAC18 # ESI = 00165AC0 # EDI = 0019F968 # CS:EIP = 001B:6CE25738 # SS:ESP = 0023:0012F0C0 EBP = 0012F11C # DS = 0023 ES = 0023 FS = 003B GS = 0000 # Flags = 00010202 6CE25738 0012F11C 0001:00014738 C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll DirectInput8Create()+7E12 6CE25738 0012F11C 0001:00014738 C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll DirectInput8Create()+7E12 6CE26AB0 0012F134 0001:00015AB0 C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll DirectInput8Create()+918A 6CE26C59 0012F178 0001:00015C59 C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll DirectInput8Create()+9333 6CE2428F 0012F190 0001:0001328F C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll DirectInput8Create()+6969 6CE1533E 0012F1B8 0001:0000433E C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll 6CE1DBDA 0012F1D8 0001:0000CBDA C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll DirectInput8Create()+2B4 6CE1DC57 0012F1F8 0001:0000CC57 C:\WINDOWS\system32\DINPUT8.dll DirectInput8Create()+331 02567480 7C3AC1D1 0001:00006480 C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\NewInput.dll ??4ForceFeedback@@QAEAAV0@ABV0@@Z()+3240 56ADE87C 3CDC9CB8 0000:00000000 what else do you need to know?

Ulrich Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=100 Try launching Black Shark with different mouse, there are some known problems with this model.
elric1911 Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 um, i don't have a different mouse... is anyone trying to fix these problems?
EtherealN Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Do you have any special software installed for that mouse? You might be able to temporarily work around the problem through disabling that and letting it operate as a standard plug-and-play. EtherealN Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Ah, okey, my bad. :( (It helped in a few applications with my Razer Diamondback when it was new.) EtherealN Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Almost all. Basically, the more "special" the peripheral, the greater the risk of it suffering incompatibility. This goes for pretty much any kind of peripheral, be it a mouse, keyboard, joystick or whatever. Obviously, with a flight simulator greater care is taken to ensure compatibility with joysticks. Most high-tech mice are more targeted towards the FPS player, and FPS developers will ensure compatibility (but won't give any mind to whether an X52 works or not). I used to have such issues with a few games when I used my Razer Diamondback, when the model was new, together with it's software package. Today it works by standard because the operating system itself has adjusted to recognize it by default. That model of sidewinder mouse looks relatively new though and it appears like it slipped through and does appear to have some pretty unorthodox functions. This can cause issues in applications that expect more standard equipment. A mouse that works satisfactorily would not cost more than some $5, but if you have a friend, family member or something such that has a mouse you can try out I would recommend testing that just to ensure that it really is that one that is causing the problem. But if Ulrich says there are known problems with it, I would expect his analysis to be true. (He's one of those guys that regularly show me that I am not nearly as good with hardware as I sometimes think I am. :P ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

EtherealN Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Are you guys for real? You mean to tell me that if I have high tech game gear this game might not play? Why would you release a game like that? What kind of company are you guys running? Who has heard of a game not working because you have a good mouse or a cool keyboard? You guys suck, don't quit your day job. Ehm, dude, read what I wrote. Also, you need to realize that it's not just a question of "a game not working because [you] have a good mouse or a cool keyboard". It's a question of specialized hardware often ignoring standards, requiring specialized software to run on the computer to use whatever extra features the hardware is meant to have. That adds a layer of complexity which can cause unforseen issues. As they have stated, they are aware of the problem with that specific mouse and will probably fix that. Lastly, a lot of "good [mice]" and "cool keyboard" are actually rubbish pieces of crap that only try to seduce people through looking cool. There's nothing "high-tech" about a mouse with extra buttons and the ability to switch between 200, 400 and 2000 DPI. Razer released it's first 2000dpi mouse ten years ago. Though I guess it's a neat feature to be able to downgrade your resolution to below ball-mouse levels... :P If you think no other games suffer compatibility problems, you really need to look around a bit. I don't know of a single game released in the last 5 years that was as stable as this one on release. A few problems with some peripherals that require the installation of complex management software isn't really a big thing. nomdeplume Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Seems Kane & Lynch also had problems with this type of mouse. There's a post on the LoTR Online forum that says one thing that can cause crashes in dinput.dll is "phantom" devices. Ulrich says there's known issues with this mouse so it is probably completely unrelated, but if you're bored and can't get hold of another mouse it might give you something to do. http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?p=3287069
