JU88s won't drop SC 50s as part of Carpet Bomb

I'm missing something here or maybe there's a bug?

I can get B-17 carpet bombing to work no problem. I can even get the JU88s to carpet bomb with the two externally carried bombs (for some reason if they're mismatched bombs, they only drop one - but if they're the same type they drop both). But I cannot seem to get them to open the bomb bay and release the SC 50s.

I've tried all the different weapon types (unguided, -bombs, --iron bombs), I've tried the various ROE options as well, and any combination of the two elements. They simply won't do it. I've missed something simple and my brain is blocking it, probably. That or there's some sort of specific behavior with JU88s dropping SC 50s I'm not aware of yet.
