Hi, i started first campaiqn and i'm on second mission, there coming infantry a lot, i ask wingman to "attack targets" and "attack ground targets".

Why he allways says negative.

So my question is how i use my Wingman to attack targets efficiently?

I have only rockets and gun, so i don't use Schkval and don't use datalink either.

Thanks.

Infantry are hard to spot - he is probably saying negative because he has no clue where the infantry you are referring to are. The simulator does also simulate the matter of each unit's field of view and ability to spot various types of targets.

You can try fixing that through setting target points for him with the Skhval and datalink.

Do you think this needs to be changed with a patch, the wingman has the same equipment as you, surely he can scan and kill as I figure if you can pick them up and he is normally on your right, he must be able to as well?

Well, if I were to venture a speculation and a guess, I suspect that this may be related to how the sim handles trees, with some "facts" that I believe to be true from what I've read on the forums here:

1) Trees do not obscure units for the AI. This is an engine limitation. Linked to the non-collidability of trees.

2) The AI should not be able to see infantry in a dense forest.

3) If they make the AI spot infantry on it's own (not requiring the infantry to "say hello" through opening fire), the AI would instead gain a God Mode of sorts, spotting hiding snipers in the woods with their x-ray vision and psychic powers. :P

At least, that would be my guess on why the system is the way it is. It is based on speculation, but I hope it is somewhat informed speculation at least. :P

Well, I tend to think of it as a fair trade. My AI wingman is better than I am at spotting enemy SAM sites and tanks, and I am better than him at spotting enemy infantry and MANPADS. We complement each other. :)
