[Known issue] Replay flight bug: Plane state doesn't match actual flight

Hi there,

I've just had a flight in which I definitely removed the chocks and watch Jester close his canopy, but during the replay the chocks are still in place as I'm taxiing and jester 's canopy is still open. The result being that the canopy get blown off after takeoff and the gear is damaged and won't close properly. Due to the lack of pressure, the plane is also shaking all over the place, things that definitely didn't happen in flight.

Anyone else with this issue? Latest version btw.

In Training: Phantom F-4E / In the Hanger: F-14, F-16

Maps: Nevada / Kola / Syria / Afghanistan

Hardware: Winwing Orion2 HOTAS Metal Warthog / Winwing Orion2 ViperAce EX Throttle / Virpil R1-Falcon Rudders

Head Tracking: AI Track + OpenTrack

I think this is a similar issue.

DCS has low replay fidelity, which is especially bad for the F-4E, which uses the Jester.

I think it would be more fun if the replays were more accurate, but I don't know when they'll be improved. X(

It is indeed the same issue. The tracks dont fully support HB UI yet. You did the cold start with either mouse-clicking or head-tracking through the Jester Wheel, which is not captured in the track and hence, when you replay your track, your aircraft moves around with dead engines and no power.

You either have to use the keyboard-only interactions for the Wheel (CW, CCW, Enter, Exit, ...) or, while replaying the track, mouse-click what you would have clicked during the real play.

To understand why you are still moving despite dead engines you have to understand that the track system ignores the simulation for the aircraft position. The aircraft is moved "on rails" to ensure that at least the aircraft position is correct at any point during the replay. Everything else goes according to the simulation though, which is why you then get these weird combinations.

@Hikaruncat Ah, thanks. Somehow I missed that in the forum search.

@Zabuzard Yes, it was a cold start, so what you mentioned makes sense, as the Jester wheel was open during replay. I'm guessing this is pretty far down the list for fixing?

I've pretty much given up on replay reproducibility.
I think it will be particularly difficult to make the F-4E's Jester UI wheel compatible.
When using the F-4E to make an emergency exit while extending the wheels for a landing approach,
you may see the wheel choke even though you're flying.
This doesn't happen in replays, it happens during normal play. (Already reported, there's a thread.)20240719120721_1.jpg

There are still many problems with it,
but I love it so much that it's the only plane I fly now.
I hope it gets better and better.
Good luck, Heat Blur.
Good luck, Jester!

thank you

It has a higher priority, but the issue is very complex to approach from a technical side. Might also need a change or two by ED...

Will see 🤞

I am also seeing playback issues even with the older DCS modules. I had a dog fight with a Su-27, I am in an F/A18-C, and in the real flight he clips me with his gun and I then go on to kill him with a Aim-9x. When I watched the playback immediately after it showed all this as I remembered it (great I thought). A couple of days later when I came to make a video from the track the Su-27 kills me every time with its guns.

It seems odd that the even the reply changes over time, I can only assume that there are some random elements in the simulation that are not stored in the track file and so generate a different out come when you replay, maybe after restarting DCS.

I can't wait until they fix this, hopefully with the proposed changes coming to support then Dynamic missions, saves and playback.
