All,

I'm brand new to LOMAC and especially Flaming Cliffs. I love this game, and so far no problems. I have noticed, however, something a little wierd. I opened several different missions and changed the "Player 1" aircraft to an AI pilot so that I could just watch the missions, and in every single one of them, the (now) AI airplane shoots off a couple of flares about every 10 seconds or so. Only the aircraft that was originally the player aircraft does this.

I'm sorry if this subject has been covered before... chalk it up to newbie-ness and not being able to find such a post.

It's not really an issue... if it doesn't get fixed I'm not worried about it, but if any of you have seen/experienced/fixed this before, I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks in advance!

It's the Auto Countermeasures thing. You can do it too with Ctrl + Q. I hardly ever use it myself though. Waste of flares.

Welcome aboard! Glad to see you're liking it so far, as many people can find it overwhelming. Feel free to PM me if you want some help getting started, as I'd be more than hapy to help someone get in on this awesome hobby

Hello newbie...

AI planes always shoot both flares and chaff as long as they have been threatened by the enemy. They're so smart that can even detect MANPADs in the forest and throw flares. Don't worry as AI has unlimited number of decoys, so this is perfectly normal.

Aeroscout and CHola, thanks for the welcome. I feel lucky so far that my game is working... seems as there's so many problems out there judging by the posts here.

Yes, lockon is the very definition of a buggy game, but with a little patience and luck, you can get it to run reasonably stable.

You may wish to checkout http://www.lockonfiles.com for any mods you would like to install. There are so many to choose from here and make the game a lot nicer visually.

http://www.flankertraining.com/ironhand is the first place you shouold go to get familiar with the planes and proceedures. The tutorials here are top notch and really give you a good idea of how to do things.

Of course, I highly recomend you also do the ingame tutorials aswell before you patch the game to 1.12a if you haven't already. If you have already pached the game, you can find them in video form here: http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=50&lang=en

On that note, http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?lang=en is a great resource for lockon stuff, from mods to movies. It's almost another lockonfiles

Want to go play online? you'll need HL if you don't want to memorize every server's IP and type it in every time: http://www.hyperlobby.sk

Also, get Teamspeak: http://www.teamspeak.com/ so you can talk to people as you fly online.

I think that's about all you need to get started. I know it's a lot to take in, but you'll find yourself visitng all these places as time goes on
