Command menu pops up on PTT when not bound to sticks

The communications menu (keyboard bound / -> F1, F2, etc.) pops up when I use the PTT (on my hotas) for a voip ics or voip radio.  I do not have the Comms menu bound to my sticks, only the "\" keyboard binding, so it shouldn't be popping up when I try to talk on a chosen radio.
