trueman832 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Hi everybody, I have recently gotten my new triple monitor setup going with a Matrox TH2G digital and three 22" monitors at 1680x1050 each. It's working with everything else (for the most part) but KA-50 won't start. I have uninstalled and reinstalled KA-50, which worked great. However, when I went to the graphic settings and checked 5040x1050 and the fullscreen toggle, the program froze. I believe it's a problem with the fullscreen mode, but I can't get into the program to disable it. Can anybody help me out? I don't want to go mucking around in the .cfg files without knowing what I'm doing. Thanks! trueman832
jskibo Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) I had the same problem as you did. The only way I can get the game to run at 5040 x 1050 is to set my desktop at a lower resolution before starting the Blackshark. After doing so, it launches fine. Strange bug, hope they can squash it in a patch as its annoying to swap the resolutions all the time. Edited June 12, 2009 by jskibo

Are you saying it will run if I down my desktop resolution to 4320x900 and run BS at 5040x1680, or run BS at 4320x900? I might actually cry if all this work and $$$ (based on Eagle's own promotion of the Matrox TH2G in the packaging and website) didn't even deliver. Ironically, FSX, which sucks the big one when it comes to performance and compatibility, works great with the TH2G. Also works great with Sins of a Solar Empire, World in Conflict, Bioshock, Dead Space, and Oblivion.

Like you, it would not run for me when my desktop was 5040 x 1050, but I saw someone else had luck turning down their desktop but still running the game at 5040 x 1050, so I tried it. Clean install, set the desktop to 3840 x 768, put the game at 5040 x 1050 and started it up. I was worried as the game has long load times, but it worked. Flying fine now at 5040 x 1050. Had to adjust the max FOV so my face wasn't against the HUD. Still one issue left. The selection screen (Campaign, Quick Mission, Options, etc...) still runs at a resolution that cuts off the exit button. Can't figure it out..... Still nice to have the higher res in the rame and the second time the option screen comes up it loads at full resolution (i.e. after flying one mission)
trueman832 Posted June 14, 2009 Author Posted June 14, 2009 jskibo you're the best! It works great now, 5040x1050 with 3 cameras gives a great 180 degree view. The GTX295 is plenty of balls to get 50fps at this resolution. If you're ever in Toronto I totally owe you a beer! Thanks!
trueman832 Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 Anybody know if the new patch fixes the Matrox TH2G resolution problem discussed above?
trueman832 Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 This problem appears to be happening more as more people are getting TH2Go's. Has anybody gotten it running with 1.01 at 5040x1050, with or without the res reduction solution? ED, please start dealing with this one.
lineman55 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I found by not using the shortcut made by the Matrox program for that resolution,,use the exec file directly from the install of the game. The shortcut made by the Matrox program would never load or kick back errors
