vracan Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Hello, I just bought this campaign and have big issue with the voice-overs audio. It is VERY nasal/high frequency and low volume. Add the very strong accents and it becomes unusable for me. I am forced to have to read text all the time. There is no issue with audio in any of my other campaigns so had to abandon this campaign. I am using lates DCS patch. Any one else having issue with audio in this campaign?
Cyking Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Hi @vracan I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble understanding the voice-overs. Does this apply to all characters, or are there specific ones that are challenging? I'm aware that not all voice-overs are perfect, but since this was my first project in DCS, I was heavily reliant on volunteers and had to learn a lot on my own. Today, I would probably approach the voice-over modulation differently. On the other hand, accents are also part of the immersion. In multinational operations, it's quite common that not everyone is a native English speaker, and communication and understanding can sometimes be challenging. DISCORD - YOUTUBE - INSTAGRAM
vracan Posted November 7, 2024 Author Posted November 7, 2024 Thanks for the reply. No it's not all the voices, but most. In mission 1 for example the frigate girl voice sounds like a mouse and speaks way too quickly. I believe its not the voice themselves but the filtering/modulation effect is too strong. Also in general pretty much all voices are way too low volume, even with the audio settings at maximum. You should have the recorded volumes very loud, and so that we can adjust it to be lower in the audio settings to our liking. btw, on mission 1, I also discovered the adf 440KZ instructed does not point us to the frigate. Having said that it's nice that you care about the quality. Do you think it's still possible for these to be corrected in a future DCS patch? Thank you

Thank you Expand Hi @vracan thank you for your continued feedback. I’ve noted your points; however, please keep in mind that during all testing sessions with the testers and up until your comment, this hadn’t been an issue. That said, I agree that, in retrospect, I would handle the filtering/modulation differently today and use different software for it. To be honest, though, a replacement or rework of the voiceovers won’t happen until early next year. Nevertheless, I appreciate your feedback—it's only with insights like yours that I can improve the quality of my projects. Thank you! P.S. The ADF should be updated in the next patch. Unfortunately, the latest Syria update included some changes to the frequencies. Still, it seems you managed to find the ship; otherwise, you wouldn’t have heard the lovely voice of the ship operator. Edited November 8, 2024 by Cyking DISCORD - YOUTUBE - INSTAGRAM
