Vulkan api errors causing terrible fps drops in nov 5 update

Loaded the game after updated to last version 2.9.9.2474 from 2.9.9.2406

loaded the same weapon practice on Nevada for A10C II (instant action). Until this last update my VR fps was just phenomenal. Rock stable 80 fps with close to maxed out setting. Now after the update it drops from 80 to 20 in every 2-3 secs causin extreme stutter. To validate it isn’t my config/driver/oculus rolled back to 2.9.9.2406 and again, rock stable 80 fps. Watched the log files and there is a log called cef_log.log filled with the same log error points to libANGLE\renderer\vulkan\Renderer.Vk.cpp, initialize:1378

My config is 5800x3d, 64 gb ddr4, 4070ti iChill 3x, Oculus Rifts, nvme 3.0 for win and 4.0 for dcs.

please let me know if you would like to get the log file or in case you need any additional info.

cef_log.logdcs.logHere are the log files, the dcs.log seems okayish the mentioned Vulkan Api errors are in the cef.log file. Hope that helps to figure out the cause. Additional info (small but probably important that the fps drop constantly occurs in VR even in main menu.

The cef_log.log may just be related to the new launcher. You could test this by disabling the launcher under the Misc settings in the DCS menu, remove the cef_log.log file and see if it is recreated when you start the game. I also dropped your dcs.log file into the DCS log analyser which had the following to say:

  • Enable Full Screen mode.
  • Set Water to Medium or Low.
  • Turn down Anisotropic Filtering.
  • Set Shadows to Medium.

AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

Thanks. Good point. I will try  it with disabled launcher. By the way earlier it didn’t cause any issues but  it worth a try..

Fps drops are clearly not performance issues, as I mentioned I have the same fps drops and frame time issues in main menu without any 3d rendering. Even the fps counter graph freezes for ~1/10sec in every 2-3 sec periodically when the fos drop occurs.
Without the errors I have rock stable 80 fps and perfect frame times both in menu and during flight.
Tomorrow I will try turn off the launcher and we will see. Thanks for your reply!

Huge thanks. It was the launcher. Just got back my butter smooth frame times. Thanks for helping me out.
