Archangel44 Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 (edited) Fellow pilots, For a while, I was getting CPU spikes in game, some of them bad causing FPS to hit the single digits. My old mobo and bulldozer processor has done very well, paired with a GTX 1080, at just about everything I throw at it, however; DCS was more than it could handle so I bit the bullet and decided to build a new rig. Asrock x870 Pro RS mobo. Ryzen 5 7600 cpu. 6600Mhz DDR5 32g ram. Gen4 NVME at 4TB. Windows 11 and for now, my GTX 1080 graphics card. What a huge improvement. No more CPU bound spikes with graphic settings on high in most cases, getting smooth 50-60 fps. I hope this helps. Update: I removed my 1080 and replaced it with a Gigabyte 4080 Super. Maxed out the graphics, with FPS limit at 80 on a 1440 monitor. I can fly at 80fps and when things get harry, fps will briefly drop to the 60-70’s. Way better and more fun. The maps look so much better, in fact, all things look so much better. rob10 Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 It still blows my mind how under rated the old 1080 cards were. I moved on from it a while ago, but it always amazed me when people with (theoretically) better cards were complaining about performance a lot worse than I had. 2
