Bahger Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I reinstalled BS recently and was foolish enough not to allow the program to create desktop shortcuts. These (one for SP, the other for MP) had enabled me in my last install to start the sim without the CD-ROM in the drive. Can someone tell me if it's possible, without reinstalling again, to regain this ability? I cannot find an executable file in the DCS BS folder that can do it. Thanks!
viper169th Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Find theses files in your Black shark folder and add the info into the target boxes Multi-player "D:\Program files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Multiplayer.bat" Single player "D:\Program files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" --console Sincerely, Viper169th P.S. If you installed on your C drive change the D:\ to C:\
EtherealN Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Bahger, did you allow it to create Start Menu items? On my machine it would be Start>Eagle Dynamics>Ka-50> and in there there's links. Namenlos Ein Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Target fields or target boxes. In the shortcut's context menu point Properties and you can find it. Don't forget put in Start in field <your_path_here>\Ka-50! Edited June 28, 2009 by Namenlos Ein
Bahger Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Many thanks, guys, that's a little trick I've never picked up. It seems to work but my shortcut is green not orange; should that be any cause for concern? ...oh, and why does Viper specify quotation marks around the Target field text but Namenlos does not? Edited June 28, 2009 by Bahger
Namenlos Ein Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Press Change Icon… button and find …\Ka-50\FUI\BS-1.ico for single player and …\Ka-50\FUI\BS-3.ico for multiplayer. ...oh, and why does Viper specify quotation marks around the Target field text but Namenlos does not? Because his paths includes spaces in Program files and Eagle Dynamics. Quotation marks is required in this case. Edited June 28, 2009 by Namenlos Ein
Bahger Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 I really appreciate this, guys and feel a bit dumb because...where is there a change icon button, in the short cut context menu, in the BS files? I've looked and can only find a color palette in the shortcut menu. I'm running Vista 64x, is that organised differently? Sorry.
Bahger Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 OK, got it. Again, thanks, and sorry for asking such basic questions, it's just that this is an aspect of Windows functionality that had been completely unfamiliar to me.
