Mission 1 Question “Spoiler”

So, after three  play throughs I can only come to the conclusion that this mission is designed to make me go Winchester mavs on the T55 tasking.   Forcing me to gun run the SA9?   I notice on tacview  the T55’s just blow up shortly after my last Mav is fired.  Has anyone completed the t-55 tasking with a Mav left?   I have not taken out the SA9 as I got shot down once(bad flying), crashed once (bad flying), and exhausted my guns with the SA-9 at 50 health left.  (Bad gunnery skills).   Finally on the last try I just flew home and completed the mission, knowing a couple UH1s would get shot down.   Don’t like that.  What’s others experiences?
