How do I best engage Air targets?

I'm a bit lost... I play the Republic campaign (by Dzen, great campaign btw), and in one mission, I am head to head with a Hind. I push the A/A button instead of the Ground target, put on the Laser, Master Arm, and with the help of the sight get the circle on the Hind, but the Shkval just won't lock on the target... What am I doing wrong?

Its a bit dificult to lock in an AA target because they constantly moving at higher speed from ground units.

 

The mission you are talking about, I manualy engage the Hinds with HE cannon rounds and drop them down.
