Dustbag1969 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Under normal idle conditions my 7800X3D runs at <40C. As soon as I open the Pimax Play software the temp increases to nearly 80C and the fans are working hard. This is not in game this is just on the windows desktop with Pimax Play software open. Having read about some issues with Windows Security I temporarily stopped Windows Defender and within seconds my CPU was less than 40C again. When I restart windows defender it increases CPU temp to nearly 80C again. I have tried excluding all Pimax folders from Windows security but this has not helped. Any suggestions as this does not seem normal?
Dustbag1969 Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 I found another folder containing Pimax programs and after excluding this from Windows Security my CPU now stays below 40C when idle. Hopefully Pimax will address this issue at some point but as it seems like it has been an ongoing issue for over 12 months maybe not.
CrackerJack Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Where was the other folder you found? Thanks Win 10 64-bit, Intel Core i7-7700k@4.2GHz, MSI 1080Ti , 16 GB, 500GB SSD, LG 34UM95, Acer T232HL, TrackIR 5 Pro, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals.
Dustbag1969 Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 In the AppData folder I had only excluded the Local folder and Pimax was also in the Roaming folder so as soon as I excluded these my temperatures dropped by about 35C 1

On top of that the newest Pimax Play leaves crapload of processes running keeping the CPU clocks at max AFTER shutting shutting the Pimax Play down and disconnecting the headset. I have to either stop them all manually or reboot the system. I have couple of main processes on manual start so they don't automatically start on system start.

Well, I guess this issue disappeared after after I installed Steam and Steam VR. I was reinstalling the entire gaming setup on a different rig and decided to configure PCL headset in Pimax Play before I installed the Steam VR... bad idea The processes are manageable now, besides I only play offline.
