SKYWARRIOR Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) Hi, I am new here especially to PC stuff ( normal Mac user) so I maybe naive in my thinking on this subject but why I am seeking guidance. Since the last update I feel my computer is not the same with a nippy cursor and quick shutdowns way etc. Also as discussed with a colleage some items in the start up and instrument dept of F18 are a little odd. Not though due to the main question here. However the basic question is : Do I need more Ram than the 64mb I am currently running shown in my computer spec and the task manager readings. Before I got the instruments ( 3 ddi screens and W Wing throttle, Take off panel, F16 stick ) it ran like a gazelle on heat ! Its not quite the same machine now but pretty awesome in the greater plan but has the addition of these items to the system shown a weakness. You must run Sim app pro for the screens even if you program the stick, throttle and to panel via DCS controls. My understanding is that when and if possible for the sharpest response RAM cannot be beaten. If the system is using all of the ram it writes to disk and back albeit quickly but not as instant as RAM. One chart show DCS on "ticker" so to speak and the other when full on with a second 27 screen to my right for Discord etc Edited February 2 by SKYWARRIOR added last sentence PNY RTX 4080 Super 16G ARGB OC 3XS Gamer 4070 Ti (AMD) **3XS** AMD R7 7800X3D OEM TRA 16GB SCAN 3XS USB3 FLASH DRIVE *3XS*ASUS TUF B650 PLUS WIFI Win11 Home 1TB Solidigm P41 Plus M.2 3XS 2TB Solidigm P41 Plus M.2 SSD 2x32GB Cors Veng 560 AMD DDR5 3XS CORSAIR 12+4pin PCIe Gen 5 Corsair RM1000x Full Mod PSU FD Corsair oled bendy screen, Orion F16 stick Orion throttle,PTO 2 panel 3 WW DDI
rob10 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 If you actually only had 64MB as you said, then yes your RAM would be holding you back. Fortunately you have 64 GB which is very comfortable . Since you mentioned you are using SimAppPro, have you tried changing this (change inteveral to 0.3 from 0.03): In the file \SimAppPro\resources\app.asar.unpacked\Events\wwt\wwtExport.lua Line 19 -- winwing.interval=0.3 - default is 0.03 NOTE to prevent this from being overwrote back to default every time you restart SimAppPro you need to set the file to READ ONLY. This change reduces how often SimAppPro polls the devices from every 0.03 secs (so almost continuously) to every 0.3 secs (which is still a lot) and often reduces to overhead of SimAppPro. 1
SKYWARRIOR Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Hi yes I have done that and read only It still appears to be using 80-90 % of the 64 gb of RAM though . Is this normal ? I don't believe that is normal at all, might want to check your BIOS settings, and or check the physical sticks. It appears that you are 'seeing' 64GB but only 'using' 32GB if that even makes sense? but it could explain weird high usage like this.
