Jel Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Flight of 2 F-18 inbound, both of us contacted carrier. Leader checked in first and got response for Case3 procedures (night), myself flying in close formation checked in second and got the same call right after him. So far the usual procedure. Now the curious part: I heard and read the carriers response on his call, it said he should expect Case3 approach, final Bearing 287 for 97 radial dme 21, etc. He then tells me, he has heard and read "final bearing 277". What ? I asked for a screenshot for i couldnt believe and indeed, we both hear the same call on carrier freq, he hears and reads a different course than i do. What's wrong here ? Anyone had this issue before ? We're quite puzzled how this even works, never thought one and the same radio message could be different for 2 receipients. Side note: 277 would fit for radial 97, although 287 was the correct course all along, his "277" was way off as he saw on final approach. When in doubt - climb. Nobody ever collided with air.
