BadgerNZA Posted March 11 Posted March 11 In the current Supercarrier, the tomcat's signal to kneel is the hornets 'Lower launch bar signal'. This is plain inaccurate, IRL the director would lean down and tap his knee with his hand to tell the crew to kneel (AFAIK) was said by Nasty Manazir in a Ward Carroll vid. 1
Micr0 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 There were a couple different signals over the course of the years. Originally it was the same as the "lower launch bar" signal. Later , it became tapping the top of the left fist with the bottom of the right fist. And towards the end, it was a tapping of the knee. 2 1
Dragon1-1 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 It's the same because ED has coded the animations for the Hornet, and the appropriate animation for the Tomcat is not part of what they did. It'd be nice to see era-appropriate gesture for the Tomcat, but I don't see it coming anytime soon, given how half-baked many of the deck crew features are (magic teleport, anyone?). 3 1
BadgerNZA Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Would add a ton of immersion to have the kneel imo 2
Micr0 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Absolutely agreed. Personally, I'd like to see variation. Deck crews would use different versions and would "stylize" them for show. For example, at 00:17 of this video, the director uses a stylized version of the fist tapping version. 1 1
