Steve_012 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Dear community I started some weeks ago with an Oculus 3 setup and since then I'm struggling with Dcs. But first of all my specs I7 9700k, 3060ti, 32 GB RAM, 2Tb ssd, clean win11, network via Lte router and PC via ethernet. I'm starting Dcs via Virtual desktop connected via USB3 cable. But VD just shows 20-25 fps bitrate. I can fly but what I see at videos on YT I'm far behind quality. What am I missing? Any idea? Regards Steve

If you have persevered for 3 weeks then you now realise that VR can be a challenge. Don't give up. With your PC specs your fps is about where I would expect if you are at full resolution. Before going any further some more information would be useful. What are your VD and DCS settings? VD does not support usb connection, unless you have used some unofficial workaround. Could you share a screenshot of the VD in-SIM overlay? 1 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). Steve_012 Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 Thanks for your quick reply and good words. I won't give up! But it's frustating in a certain sense. I hope to understand you well and attached 2 screenshots of my VD settings. But you wrote VD doesn't support USB connection. That wouldn't be good as I expected to get connected. Damned!
Qcumber Posted March 22 Posted March 22 For VD you need a dedicated wifi 6 router connected to your PC by an Ethernet cable and close (2m) to your headset. Otherwise you are likely to have poor stability. The VD discord have information on the best routers. https://discord.gg/PPJrGY8U The other option is using meta link cable. You need a decent cable such as this one: https://amzn.eu/d/8PcVw87 A lot of people will tell you that VD is better. There are pros and cons with both, and I often switch between them. However I mostly use Oculus cable link. The other thing to try is Quad Views Foveated Rendering. This can be used without eye tracking and can give you a big performance boost. https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). What are you're streaming settings? Those are the important ones because by streaming they mean to your HMD. Meta software says 2.3 GBits speed. But it's good to know that you're going the same way. With success? Would be great to have an idea. I saw yesterday this gnirhtet tool. But I have no clue on this adb things.

Could you please post a screen shot of the in game overlay? 59 minutes ago, Steve_012 said: I bought a decent USB3 cable last week. Meta software says 2.3 GBits speed. Try meta link. You should get a better experience than you are with VD at the moment. Download Oculus Tray Tool and then you can adjust settings such as the image scaling, control of ASW and cable bitrate. If you are lucky you should be able to get at least 500mbps, possibly the highest at 960mbps. 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). Qcumber Posted March 23 Posted March 23 2 hours ago, Steve_012 said: What means "in game overlay"? There is a "tick box" at the bottom right of the VD headset menu which allows you to view stats in the game: "Show Performance Overlay". 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). Ok. Found the tick box and did 2 screenshots. I had to do 2 times a clean reinstall of win11 and it took ages to reinstall DCS. Hope this helps in any way. Else I have to look for a capable Wifi6 router but as I am just connected via LTE it cost again 200 € or even more. Just for playing. Thanks for your kind support and help.

Thanks for your kind support and help. It looks like you have a network issue. The networking latency is high and your max Bitrate Is only 20 mbps. Is your PC connected to your router with an ethernet cable? Is your router close to your headset? As you already have a good cable that has passed the meta test, I would suggest using meta link. It works very well and is at least as good as VD. I mainly use meta link now. For me it is a more stable experience than VD at the moment. I can get 960 Mbps and the clarity is slightly better than VD (very subjective) and there is less latency when moving your head quickly. 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). The PC is connected to an AVM Powerline by ethernet cable. And the Powerline is linked by Ethernet with the LTE router. Distance 1,5 m. And the headset is where the Pc is. I will give Meta Link a chance. Will come back with news. But I am travelling until end of this week. Edited March 24 by Steve_012 1
