Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help me understand some issues I'm having with the radio.

I've been practicing the 'Landing in Clear Weather' mission from @Dallatorre's Phantom Proficiency tutorials. The mission requires me to tune into Kobuleti Approach on 262mhz. I ask Jester to do this for me, then contact Approach, but I get no response. I realise I have to give Jester COMM CMD to use the frequency he's tuned, which makes sense, but why didn't he take comms control when tuning the frequency? Is this something that would be set in the mission itself somehow or is this a procedural 'bug' in the module?

Then in free flight in Afghanistan, I ask Jester to tune to the KC-135 Tanker on 251mhz, which he does, but now, I CAN contact the tanker for refuel whilst having COMM CMD on a different frequency (I assume, as it's on preset).

So basically it seems there's no consistency in how to use the radio correctly. Is there something I'm missing here?

And final question: I get automatically handed off the the Tower frequency in the landing mission without Jester or myself tuning into 133mhz. Is this just a DCS thing for easier gameplay?

Cheers all,

That is correct, these commands in the wheel will not have Jester claim UHF command. This is on purpose as the normal approach to using the UHF is to setup both pits with frequencies and then hop between both using the CMD button in order to be able to talk to two frequencies - which would otherwise not be possible.

So after setting up Jesters frequency with something you can hop between yours and his frequency by using the COMM button on your panel.

That makes sense, but why on the Afghanistan map was I able to talk to the tanker on Jester's frequency, whilst still having COMM CMD in the front? I double checked and I was on a completely different frequency.
