The missile also allows for long breaks (up to 20-30% of the remaining guidance time) in the illumination of the radar while maintaining the timing diagram of the illumination channel.

 

The missile can maintain synchronization for a limited time after the radar loses track of the target. As long as the radar resumes illuminating the same target within the missile's interruption time threshold, the seeker can re-lock the target.
