I needed an upgrade, and the choice was between an RTX5070ti or a RX 9070 XT. The AMD is a lot cheaper, and on par/better(?) than the Nvidia one, but it's Upscaler technology ( FSR4) is not ( yet) supported by DCS. And it's very hard to find some real world performance examples( I could only find some VR results).

So, if anyone is looking for AMD RX 9070 XT performance in DCS on 4K flat monitor( no VR), here are my initial results.

System: i7-14700F, 64GB DDR5

Primary monitor: 43inch, 4K 120Hz (3840x2160)

Secondary Monitor 27inch, 2K 60Hz( 2560x1440), portrait mode, non game( browser, discord,...)

Everything on high/max settings in DCS, Single player, Mi-8 Syria map.

With old RTX2060 3840x2160:

  • No DLSS: 20fps
  • DLSS Quality: 35fps ( slight smearing )
  • DLSS Ultra perf: 57fps ( ugly smearing )

With new RX 9070 XT 3840x2160:

  • No upscaling, no antialiasing: 80fps  ( very sharp, bad aliasing )
  • No upscaling, MSAA 4x: 49fps ( very sharp, still pretty bad aliasing )
  • No upscaling, TAA, 0.7 sharpening: 80fps ( slighly softer, good anti-aliasing ) ++
  • FSR 0.5: +120fps ( very blurry, good anti-aliasing )
  • FSR 0.8: 104fps( medium blurry, good anti-aliasing) ++
  • FSR 0.9: 88fps( alsmost as good as with no upscaling, good anti-aliasing) ++

Also tried with Optiscaler DLSS ( FSR 3.X w/Dx12 )

  • DLSS Ultra Performance: +120fps( Sharp, good anti-aliasing, no ghosting ) +++
  • DLSS Balanced: 98fps ( Very sharp, good anti-aliasing, no ghosting ) +++

Power consumption with Optiscaler Balanced DLSS:

  • Unrestricted FPS( 100fps): 275W
  • 90fps limit: 270W
  • 75fps limit: 150W
  • 60fps limit: 110W

For the moment I am going with the Optiscaler DLSS Balanced, capped at 75fps. I can't see the difference with higher fps anyway, and power consumption is a lot lower. With every settings turned to max, visuals are very nice, crisp and smooth.  Very first results, so things might improve, or ugly things might still pop up.
