Max resolution for Quest 3 using Virtual Desktop through Internet Connection Sharing

As I learn DCS and the F-16, using my VR headset has really helped with flying the jet since my 2D screen's TrackIR's head movements were never really smooth for me. Plus, Virtual Desktop's  hand passthrough feature is really a game changer for using the keyboard and mouse. The resolution seems fine, mostly, both external to the jet and the cockpit controls. BUT, the text on the two MFDs is about unreadable. I found a user file for improving the MFD font somewhat, but it's still a struggle to read  or discern objects on the screens. In the heat of A/A or A/G, the ability to read these items at a glance is crucial.

It's not clear to me if the resolution on my headset is optimized. I recall a setting in the Meta Link software, before Meta kept breaking with each update, that allowed me to push the resolution. In VD, it's not clear what I can do. Any ideas? Having readability on the two MFDs would be a game changer for me. Third party software maybe?

If its a limitation of the Quest 3, do any of the other headsets provide better resolution??? I don't have the money now but I might be able to save up for a better headset over the next couple of months.

Thanks.

Are you using godlike resolution in VD? I don't know if there's another sharpness setting or something similar in VD to get a clearer image?

Check inside DCS if resolution of cockpit displays is set to max (1024).

Check if DLSS is activated. It provides a slightly blurrier image so you don't want that on.

I use a Quest 3 like you, with cable Link the Viper MFDs are small but readable, so it's definitely capable of showing a clear image. There are way better headsets, but those come at a higher price tag, plus you need a top of the line PC to drive all those pixels.

Oculus Tray Tool or Diagnostic tool won't work for VirtualDesktop. Make sure the resolution is set high as possible in VirtualDesktop, i.e. Godlike, like diego999 mentioned. QuadViews is definitely an option, it's what I use, for cranking up the resolution as well. It'll put more load on your CPU, but you may be just fine given your current specs. Increasing the Pixel Density in the DCS VR settings may also help, it can be a performance hog though so you might need to play around with it to get results that work for you, YMMV. If you do go down that road then make sure that this is set back to 1.0 if you use Quad Views as well. I personally use Quad Views myself and get awesome performance and clarity from it.

If you are using DLSS/DLAA there is now new support in DCS for disabling this on the MFDs and HUD so you can get the in-game benefits of it, but keep the blurriness (if this is actually the cause of your problem) of those down a little. Add the below line(s) to your C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Config\autoexec.cfg file, create it if it doesn't exist. The K preset is one of the latest ones so is a good option to try out.

DLSS_Preset = 'K'
HUD_MFD_after_DLSS = true
