Hi guys,

I have a 5070 ti put on hold for me till this Thursday, and the attempt is to replace my old rtx 3080 with it. I saw some vids where it performs 40-50% faster when playing on screen. What do you think the performance gain would be in VR like?

Thanks!

I have never tried the 3080 but I did have a 4070 (which is only a lille bit behind the 3080). I got about a 70% boost in performance with the 5070ti. It works very well with a Quest Pro. However I see that you have 32 GB RAM and a 9600k so I think you might end up RAM limited and CPU bottlenecked, especially if you use QVFR.

PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). Maps Afghanistan – Channel – Cold War Germany - Kola - Normandy 2 – Persian Gulf - Sinai - Syria - South Atlantic. Modules BF-109 - FW-190 A8 - F4U - F4E - F5 - F14 - F16 - F86 - I16 - Mig 15 - Mig 21 - Mosquito - P47 - P51 - Spitfire.

70% - sounds good to me. Yeah, RAM and CPU are in the queue for sure.

Btw, I use QVFR, and always thought it is rather an aid that helps a lot when running on a weaker system (like mine).

Yes. QVFR helps a lot but it does impact on CPU performance. In my tests it increases the CPU latency by 1-2 ms. Even if your CPU bottlenecks I think you will still see a difference with a 5070ti.
