DCS starting in Pancake Mode

Varjo aero, GPU 4090, Intel, Win 11- This is a recent problem-I think before the most recent update it wasn't happening but can't be sure.

 

So generally I can boot up computer, and start DCS-then from the Startup menu I can Launch DCS-in VR mode. But after (generally) playing and exiting (sometimes it works twice) when I start up DCS again it will only launch into pancake (non-VR) mode.

I have reinstalled the Varjo base, and repaired DCS files, updated nvida drivers, disabled other programs etc.

Can anyone think what could be happening? What could change between first launch (which works) and the subsequent launches (that don't)?

Please attach your C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCD\Logs\dcs.log file. It may just be a text document named "dcs" if your Windows is hiding file extensions.

DCS will overwrite the log file each time, so needs to be one from a failed launch and one from a successful one.

dcs1.log was a failed VR load;

dcs.log was a successful VR load.

Sorry for the delayed response. The failed VR load contains the below in the log. This is it not finding a connected headset. I’d have a look into this first as doesn’t seem to be a DCS problem based on that log, eg connection issue between PC and headset etc.

On a side note you should run DCS from the bin folder now, the bin-mt folder is being removed in the future. DCS is all multithreaded now, the exes in both folders are identical.

Hi, 

Thanks for that. Yea it's weird-for some reason DCS is seeing the Aero as not being on or something. I'll keep troubleshooting. Re-booting the system works so I can still play when needed.

Check in Device Manager that your USB slots aren't turning themselves off (it's an oldie but worth checking). You have to go into the properties of each and I think it's the Power Management tab. Disable auto power down or something.
