Twwhitey Posted yesterday at 12:37 PM Posted yesterday at 12:37 PM So I received my Super earlier this week and all seems to be OK however I, for the life of me, cannot get sound to come out of the now installed DMAS speakers... I think this is because the headset itself is not being recognized as an "audio capable display". Question for you Super owners out there where things are working... are you seeing (2) distinct options in the windows "Audio Playback Device" options? I'm ONLY seeing the "Headphones (2- Pimax Crystal Super)" - when I select this, I do indeed get sound out of the headphone jack on the headset when I plug in earbuds, etc.. However I don't get any sound out of the DMAS speakers (which seems to make sense because I've selected the "headphones"). Should I be seeing ANOTHER Audio Playback device for the headset speakers itself in the list below? I believe this is the root of my problem but Pimax Support has been.... well...not super helpful so far. My understanding is that the DMAS speakers are driven through the DisplayPort connection whereas the headphone jack and microphone are driven through the USB connection (both of those appear to function properly) so I'm thinking there's something up with my 5090 and Super not playing well together. I've done a full DDU and nvidia driver install (latest drivers), I've installed, uninstalled, reinstalled Pimax Play multiple times, tried multiple combinations of USB and DisplayPorts and the Super's firmware was updated to the latest and greatest so I'm running out of ideas. I'd be interested in hearing from any folks where it's working fine if 1. You see more than one Pimax Crystal Super option in the Playback device selector? (screenshot above) 2. If you see the Pimax Crystal Super in the list of "Audio Capable Devices" in the nvidia digital audio section of the nvidia app.. because I don't (and I have mine plugged into DisplayPort #1 currently) i9-9900K @ 5.0GHz, ASUS ROG Z390 MAXIMUS XI HERO, ASUS GeForce RTX 2080Ti 11GB, 32GB DDR4 @ 3866MHZ, 1TB Intel 660P M.2 NVMe SSD, 1TB WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD, Oculus Rift S
Moxica Posted yesterday at 02:40 PM Posted yesterday at 02:40 PM Select realtek as playback device in windows. (I take there are ordinary speakers connected to that) Then you select the Pimax as "Headphones" in DCS "Audio menu" 1 1 ASUS ROG Strix B550-E GAMING - PNY GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming VERTO EPIC-X - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - 64Gb RAM - 2x2Tb M2 - Win11 - Pimax crystal light - HP Reverb g2 - Oculus Quest 2 - Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS - Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder - 2X Thrustmaster MFD Cougar - Audient EVO8
Panzerlang Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Check the speakers are properly connected to the headset, maybe something is off there.
Twwhitey Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago Thanks guys. So I have uninstalled and reinstalled the speakers themselves a few times but maybe I’ll reinstall the other (non-DMAS) speakers. And just so that I’m clear. Everyone is selecting… and thus I should be selecting “Speakers (Realtek USB Audio)” as the Playback device? That what everyone else is using? Because I’ve tried that and get no sound… I was under the impression is should see another Pimax specific entry in that list… would love to see a screenshot from someone ms setup that works to confirm.. i9-9900K @ 5.0GHz, ASUS ROG Z390 MAXIMUS XI HERO, ASUS GeForce RTX 2080Ti 11GB, 32GB DDR4 @ 3866MHZ, 1TB Intel 660P M.2 NVMe SSD, 1TB WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD, Oculus Rift S
Panzerlang Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago (edited) In my list it says "Headphones. Pimax P3C10" For me, "Speakers. Realtek USB Audio" is my desktop speakers connected to the mobo via an optical cable. Edited 20 hours ago by Panzerlang 1

It sounds like if I want sound to come out of the Pimax headset, I should select “ Headphones 2- Pimax ….” And if so I should be getting sound out of the DMAS speakers AND presumably the headphone jack on the headset itself. This is currently not the case on my headset (I only get sound out of the 3.5mm headphone jack) so something is definitely wrong with the DMAS speakers I installed…I was under the impression the DMAS speakers would show up as a completely different output I need to select (which was wrong).
