Spicer1978 Posted Thursday at 08:26 PM Posted Thursday at 08:26 PM Hi team, I am nearly 2 weeks into my new Crystal light upgrade from RIft S. I cannot get a setting to work. I have followed everyones online setup tips. I have tried native 72,90 and 120hz. I have tried all the quadviews and priority rendering on/off. I ideally would like 120hz locked to half, but if I try this on pimax play and/or in DCS the visuals are so blurry. Any variation of HZ halved is horrible. I can get a lovely clear image with 72hz and tweaking Quadviews and priority rendering, but lots of micro stutters ruin this. Smart smoothing helps a bit with this, but then seems to cause FPS to drop causing other problems. I have literally gone through every combo of setting with out a smooth clear experience. If i drop all the DCS in game settings to low, I get the same experience. I had online assistance with tech help the other night and they noticed from my logs that the headset had instances of not acknowledging settings from pimax play. We did some rectification by deleting logs and files and opening Pimax Play in admin mode. But none of this helped. And now to top it off the quadviews wont work at all. I select it on and can chose any of the 4 options, but the headset clearly isn't applying them. Tonight in the Pimax "space" scene I notice that if I turn my head left to right its stuttering very slightly. And if I focus on an object, I turn more than around 10 degrees, it goes out of focus. Now have a ticket open and am waiting further instruction.... I only use Pimax Play, no openxr or independent quad view. Is this the issue? Using lates version 1.0.18 firmware and Play version 1.42.1. System: Windows 11 Asus Z790 Nvidia RTX 4090 I7 14700K DDR5 64mb 6000Mt Drives are Samsung SSD 980 Pros

We do have the built-in QV and OpenXR runtime, so running DCS is absolutely fine. 10 hours ago, Spicer1978 said: Now have a ticket open and am waiting further instruction.... Spicer1978 Posted Friday at 08:05 PM Author Posted Friday at 08:05 PM Hi Calvin, Support is ongoing. They have responded twice so far. First time was rudimentary checks. Now I have been asked to check some processes are working and to feedback. I was asked to see if the IR lights are active on the lenses using a camera. But they don't appear to be. I have seen that video, thanks. Didn't work for me. He suggests locking half frame rate, which just makes everything out of focus. Ben

Or this: I watched this video when I got my Pimax CL, then the latest CL Pimax Play is different thus the video is outdated already. Also discarded all 3rd. party add-ons (just bull.....) and use only Pimax Play and working rather good with these settings. Still the best image and comfort it is with my other Quest 3 (with Kiwi H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap ) and powered USB cable or Virtual Desktop. With VD now one always see-through around your hands when you move them around, very nice feature. Ben Hi Ben, The IR lights around the lenses are not active, which is normal for the Crystal Light. This model doesn’t include eye-tracking, so it only supports fixed foveated rendering.
Spicer1978 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Thanks both, But my 2 week trial has timed out so I cant carry out any settings changes. However I have been through both these tutorials and had no luck. 90hz upscale was awefull on this headset. Everything was blurry!! My biggest issue was the Foveated rendering ( quad views ) stopped working. It looked to be the only way I could fine tune my headset to get some degree of quality experience. But despite being selected in Pimax Play, the headset wasn't applying it. I tried performance, balance, quality and my custom settings, but it wouldn't apply in the headset. Restarted Pi-Play. opened as admin. I even re-installed pimax software to no avail. I have asked for an update for the feedback I gave support for the processes and settings they asked me to provide on 26th, or I'm sending it back and rethinking my VR direction. Ben
