ngarcia11892 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago So I was trying to get VD because I wanted to play without my link cable and go wireless, I downloaded VD tried all my settings and either the game looked like trash or I would get terrible frames no matter what I did. I have a I7 13700 and a 7900xtx. Game Latency was high at the higher settings unless I set it low and it looked terrible. Is this because I didn’t have a dedicated router? I just didn’t want to have a new router available but if this is the fix I’ll do it. And if that’s the fix my pc only has one Ethernet port, would a switch work in this situation to wire everything together. My router was still like 5 feet away from me and my pc is wired with Ethernet?
mkel2010 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago You'll need a dedicated router for VD. I use the PrismXR Puppis S1 and it works well, with only the occasional hiccup (solved by unplugging and plugging in again.) It connects to your PC via two USB ports and shares the host computer's Internet connection. It on sale on Amazon's Prime day (link below.) If you go this route, download the desktop app from the PrismXR web site and use that to set it up (their mobile app sucks.) How much VRAM does your video card have? If it's not 16GB or more you may want to consider upgrading that too. https://www.amazon.com/PRISMXR-Streaming-Compatible-Accessories-Wireless/dp/B0CFDL5Y7F/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2C0533VJ27YAJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.YoxWNRObzecSta2m3AW09haI8bCpV5Cg1T4srm6SsKyzl8HWym7qTZD328Zn1w7cpzcp32s23n8i2QxmOZqs6PA3SCLD0tkEn7WUnkIkM9IwoZDpiN3liC0IGY0VAdvI.DE_omJwlh6938l4wkevO2i2At7dshdoKVeaesGqb5lY&dib_tag=se&keywords=puppis+s1+specialized+router+-+for+pc-vr+streaming&qid=1759949497&sprefix=puppis%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-1
Tomcat388th Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Here is the crayon drawing of my set up. I'm using an older asus router RT-AC68U 2.5/5GH with starlink as my internet provider. The 2.5 runs my tv's and laptops and the 5gh channel is strictly for my quest pro. I have been very happy with this setup but for best gameplay you will need the router ethernet connection. Over on Virtual Desktop Discord site the devs are topnotch in helping troubleshoot. I'm running a quest pro , 5800x3d,64 ram with a 6950xt. And lastly they have a recommended driver list for GPU's brands for us it 25.3.1 I have tried some of the newer releases and have had stuttering and tracking issues with virtual desktop J Ryzen7 5800X3D. 64 gb ram, 6950XT 16gb, Winwing Orion F18, MFG Crosswind Rudder, 42 inch lg tv, Quest PRO USN VF31 F14A AE2 1985-1989 CV 59 NAS Oceana IL ANG 183FW/170FS F16C Block 30 Big Mouth 1989-2006 Full time tech Retired E8
