Mission 05 Wingman keeps bouncing on the ground upon later stage of the mission

The wingman keeps falling to the ground and bouncing back due to immortality setting by default). I assume it's caused by excessive use of fuel onboard when intercepting the inbound Mig-29s and Su-27s. There's no options to instruct the wingman to refuel in this mission so this problem is not evitable.
