airfede78 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Hello Pilots! I've been trying to air-refuel with the Phantom for days now, but without success, because I can't contact the KC-135 at all. Conditions: Easy communications: OFF In the mission editor, I place the tanker at 22,000 feet, 370 knots GS, adding some waypoints. I set the COM frequency, for example, 305.000 MHz UHF and set the TAC channel to 21Y. I jump aboard, take off, and approach the tanker. Radar OFF, intercepting the tanker with the TACAN. On the radio, I select MANUAL and set the COM frequency to 305.000 MHz. I have green lights on both COM and NAV, with the volume set to maximum. I get into close formation to the left of the tanker. At this point, I open the communications menu, F6 contact the tanker, F1 intent to refuel. I transmit ".....Request rejoin" but from this point on, I get no response. If I choose, for example, F-18 or F-16 for the same mission I created, everything works fine and I refuel without any problem. Can you help me? Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong on board the F-4E or in the mission editor? I look forward to your advice and thank you in advance. 1
Ivandrov Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago The MPRS unit in the mission editor does not use its boom at all. It only refuels with the drogues for Navy aircraft.
airfede78 Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago So how do you create an air-to-air refueling mission flying the Phantom? Because other tankers don't have a boom.
