Hey - really interesting thread. Just to chime in: Specter Studios is the dev team behind the South Atlantic / Atlantique Sud DCS terrain - it’s a massive 3.1 million km² map covering Argentina, Chile & the Falklands.
Their work is pretty detailed: realistic satellite textures, animated airfield radar units, wind turbines, and more. 
If you’re into mission-making or big-scale theater operations, this map is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
