Karshi-Khanabad Air Base (K2) aka Camp Stronghold

Karshi-Khanabad Air Base (K2), known to U.S. forces as Camp Stronghold, was one of the most critical launch points during Operation Enduring Freedom. From late 2001 onward, K2 served as a forward hub for special operations, ISR, and strike packages flowing into northern Afghanistan. Its proximity to key Afghan targets meant faster turnarounds, shorter transit times, and the ability to sustain a relentless operational tempo in the opening months of the war.

For a sim that prides itself on historical depth, Eagle Dynamics should absolutely model K2 inside Uzbekistan. It wasn’t just another airfield on a map—it was a strategic backbone for early OEF logistics, airpower projection, and coalition coordination. Adding it to DCS would open the door to realistic mission building, accurate campaign recreations, and a missing chapter of modern airpower history.
