digital_steve Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 In my quest for some kind of cockpit, with limited money, space and a less-than-willing fiance, i was wondering if this would be possible to do with DCS:BS: 1 x main monitor (whatever size) - cockpit 1 x touchpal monitor (15") - touchpal buttons without shkval & abris 2 x samsung u70 (7") - one for shkval, one rotated 90 degrees for abris 1 x monitor or networked laptop - BSVP Given you have a computer with the stones to run it, would this be possible at all? Gadroc Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 I suspect you will have problems with the USB monitors for Black Shark. In my testing putting the ABRIS display on anything except for the primary video card kills your framerate. I successfully run a four monitor (40" main display and 3 15" touch screens) setup off of one computer, but I do it through all VGA/DVI connections with a secondary video card. I obviously run TouchPal on that. I have successfully run BSVP on it as well in regards to frame rate, but it causes problems with my G940. I have not had a chance to try out the shkval on a USB monitor. I have a 8" LCD which I will drive via TV out for my shkval in the new pit I'm building.
digital_steve Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Interesting... Perhaps using just one u70, for Shkval, and keeping the ABRIS on the TouchPal screen would be the way to go... which i can't get working currently, but should be able too with a new system. So cockpit would be centre (higher than the others, obviously) with BSVP on the left, Shkval middle and TouchPal right AMD Phenom II 965 BE @ 3.8GHz, 8GB OCZ AMD BE RAM, ATI HD5970 2GB XFX BE @ 875/1215, TM HOTAS Cougar, TM Cougar MFDs, TrackIR 5, CH MFP, GoFlight Switch Panel, iMo Mini-Monster Touch, Mimo 720S, Saitek Pro Flight Headset
ddahlstrom Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 And don't forget that Touchpal itself can run on a separate networked computer too--especially if you plan to run it without the shkval & abris. If this is an option for you, you can also check-out my touchpal patch here, which provides a profile for this along with support for keystrokes. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=795212&postcount=117
digital_steve Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Oh cool, i didn't realise touchpal can now run networked! ddahlstrom Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 (edited) Oh cool, i didn't realise touchpal can now run networked! In fact, you can even run both a networked and local copy simultaneously, providing that one of them limits itself to using keystroke commands (since export.lua can currently only converse through a single port). In my setup, I have Touchpal running locally on a second monitor with a profile that shows the ABRIS and Shkval along with a small set of switches and buttons that use strictly keystroke-based commands. Meanwhile, I have a second instance of Touchpal running on a remote touchscreen machine which hosts buttons that issue a full suite of network and keystroke based commands. digital_steve Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Got a link to where you've shown that setup off? Sounds (and no doubt looks) awesome!
