EtherealN Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Could you collect the details on the appcrash and/or screenshots of the error screen? Start - Control Panel - System and Maintenance - Problem Reports and Solutions - View Problem History. Find the corresponding entry for the error (on dcs.exe) and paste the information in here. Also, a DxDiag report would help getting a complete picture of the system with all OS and driver parameters in one nice tidy place. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
EtherealN Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Another point: please review this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=46285 Specifically this part: 1.0.1b patch was intended to solve uninstaller issues' date=' but unfortunately it brought regional settings problems and is removed from downloads page.[/quote'] With that in mind, I would recommend reinstalling to vanilla 1.0.0, then test to see if that functions. If the answer is yes, install 1.0.1. If that works, you are done. The version with letters are for very specific installer issues that, amongst other things, might cause it to get confused and crash - depending on what exact error it is you are getting it might indeed be this that is happening, especially if you have the 1.0.1b version. Note that 1.0.1 is fully functional - if it works there is no reason to use 1.0.1c, since the only things the "letter patches" include are some changes to the installer and uninstaller to avoid some issues that caused problems on some machines (specifically with language settings and syntax). On this machine, which runs an english version Vista instead of my native language, I run 1.0.1. EtherealN Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) It gives something to look at, at least, I'll see if I can figure something out. I'd still love a DxDiag output file, though, since they are an easy way to get a complete set of information. For example, you still haven't mentioned which operating system you are using. ;) Please consider attaching a DxDiag file (see the "Help Us Help You" sticky thread in this section, or this link: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 ). EtherealN Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 DxDiag procedure is explained here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 Note that it might be the Search field under your start menu that you will have to use. That works on my system. You can attach the file (it's likely too big to paste into a post) through clicking "Go Advanced" and clicking the paperclip icon. One quick thing to test would be to turn off UAC: Start - Control Panel - User Accounts and Family Safety - User Accounts - Turn User Account Control on or off. You can also right-click the icon and select "Run as Administrator". This because you have installed the simulator into the Program Files directory and Windows might be getting upset at the simulator trying to get access to things in that protected section of the filesystem. (I always install games into a separate, C:\Games, directory for that reason.) The first error pertaining autoexec.cfg also looks like you may have an erroneous path - are you using the icons installed by the installer or custom? See this wiki page for more: http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Troubleshooting:ka50:general However, that should then happen when launching the menu, not when selecting a mission and trying to load that. weengo Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 Yes ive disabled user account control and ran as administrator.
EtherealN Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Do you have any codec packs installed? If so, try uninstalling them. Might also be worth trying to install the program in a directory like C:\Games\ Instead of C:\Program Files\ - windows really is a bastard about the second one, though UAC off should have cancelled the effects of that. Remember to reboot after testing those things, as well. You can also test disconnecting your computer from the internet, then disabling your antivirus and decreasing the windows security settings, and try again - to see if they are intercepting the process as a false positive. Obviously, make sure to reactivate the security features before reconnecting to the internet.
