FC2 frame rate goes to crawl when I adjust the weather

I'm running FC2 on an AMD Turion X2 Ultra computer with 4 GB of Ram. When I add snow, rain or the winter season it crawls. Any way around this?

Turion? that means you probably are using a notebook right? If so what's the graphics card in your system. Notebooks in most cases use cut-down and slower versions of desktop graphics cards, or even integrated ones. Maybe the additional weather effects are a bit too much to handle...
