Finally got some first impressions of FC2!

And what a way we've come since 1.02! I even have to reduce my graphics-settings. But... it's still a bloody difficult sim. :music_whistling:

Is it just me, or isn't the A-10 a lot more sensitive to control-input than in 1.12? Um, that kind of puts me in a bind with my X45 with its potentiometers acting up... Well, ok, it's a rather more significant issue I have to work so hard to move the stick around - I think the plate the spring pushes against isn't terribly even these days. (This probably equates to: 'Accurate strafing runs? HAH!') Maybe I'll have a look at the deadzones again. Heh, then again, I ran my Hog most accurately into the bridge I was supposed to bomb. :)

I have yet to fly the other sweethearts, but I have no doubt it'll be a blast as well. Funny how you seem to get by much better in an A2A-craft with dodgy accuracy, innit?

 

Now, about those pots... Having finally asked Saitek/MadCatz about it, I learned they stopped manufacturing these things 2003, used custom pots, and apparently have no spare-parts left. (... Hey, wait, shouldn't that be a cause for concern? Not that I'd be able to perform the actual surgery - burglar-proof innards.) This isn't the best of times for me to be in the market for a new HOTAS... I don't suppose one of you lot have a cast-off HOTAS in a little better state than mine that you'd be willing to part with? I mean, I get by as is, and I also have a smaller Logitech-stick for things like Freespace 2, but it's... somewhat lacking in the serious-about-our-sims-department - only 12 buttons, sheesh!

Hm... It's been a while since I checked out the rules around here, but I suppose it's for the best to deal with that over PM, or even e-mail.

 

(And there's no need to inform me that CH rock left, right and center. I'll have a closer look at their line-up when the time comes, but only then. I'd say I have quite enough going on for now.)

and you re not the only one, things changed in many ways? better control sensitivity, more realistic weapons avionics and plane aswell..as told in several threads,..

 

ED s done a good job.

 

compared to the older versions from 1.02, now flying low and fast, is really fast and it looks like beeing low. this brings a realization, for the actual situation in game...,..the sim is running much better then in the past..

But... Aggravation! I have to set separate controls for EVERY flyable?? It'll take me weeks! (Well, on the other hand I'm sure to end up with a scheme suited generally to my preferences...)
