ABRIS & PVI800

Hi Guys

 

Been lurking for a while - generally learning etc etc.

 

I wondered whether someone could answer a question?

 

I have been using the Leading Edge training mission to practice flying around generally and honing some skills, learning to use the ABRIS and so on.

 

When the mission starts there is no data loaded into the ABRIS or PVI800. I therefore go about happily inputting my own waypoints SP's and so on into both systems. When I then take off and engage the AP (using 'R') the Helo flys on the either DT or DH correctly, which ever I select, but what it doesn't do is automatically move to the next waypoint.

 

E.g. I take off after inputting the relevant waypoints (PVI800 waypoint 1 being ABRIS waypoint 2) and the helo then flys to waypoint 1 but doesnt turn onto waypoint 2 - simply continues to fly over the WP on the same heading?

 

Hope this doesnt confuse you as much is it does me!

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

Check "Changing the WP sequence" (page 9-4).

 

P.S: don't forget that ABRIS and AP aren't related, so you need to program via PVI to designate route for AP.

In the Abris goto MENU/OPTION/MAIN using the FSK's

 

In there you will find WPT SEQUENCE - AUTO

 

Set to AUTO if it isnt already, automatically switches from one waypoint to next when the steerpoint has been reached.

Couple of points however...........Since the lastest patch im finding that the waypoint button doesnt illuminate in the same way it used to? Im trying to enter the sequence, as you mentioned, from pages 9-4 but it doesnt initially allow the button 'WP' to light up. I am therefore still inputting and it seems to recognise the fact that there are, for instance, 5 WP's. It still doesnt automatically move to the next in sequence though and now simply circles the WP selected?

 

The ABRIS has got WPT Sequence set to auto as well - I was under the impression this wouldnt effect the PVI800 though - please correct me if im wring?

Your impression is correct. Auto sequence in ABRIS means that next waypoint (in ABRIS only) is chosen automatically when you get close enough to the current waypoint.

Seems the same to me, unless we are talking about the case with cockpit illumination on. There is a bug, which prevents PVI buttons to illuminate when cockpit illumination is on, however they still function as intended.

It would be better if you recorded a track and attached it here. It would be easier to identify a problem.

Yes it wont chose next WPT for you on the PVI, only for Abris, my post was merely a follow up to ZaltysZ post, where he mentioned the PVI way of doing things and I mentioned the Abris part of things.
