I can't seem to get the game into window mode.

 

any idea why

you tried the check box in the options menu?

 

if yes try to reduce the resolution a little to check if there is the frame of the window!=)

I did the check box thing and I the resolution set at the first one I think its 1024xsomething which I'm assuming is the lowest.

Perhaps look at- or edit your 'options.lua' file.
