Activating a retail version thru steam

I have just purchased a copy of DCS Black Shark via a retailer, and would like to activate this game via steam using the serial provided with the game, is this possible ?

No. Valve only allows Steam copies to be "activated" through Steam, with exceptions for retail copies of their own games and a select few other products.

 

You can place shortcuts into your Steam library however through the normal Steam interface. Just ensure that you investigate the details of the "normal" DCS:BS shortcuts to ensure that you get the properties right.
