Geskes Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hello All, I want to ask all you hardcore DCS simmers a question. How do you spend your time in DCS? I am a long-time flightsim fan, though I have been on a break for some years and I am now simming like never before since about a year and a half again. The games I grew up with were games like Tornado, Longbow, Falcon series, Total Air War, EF2000, etc. The DCS sims are much more adult sims then the sims I played before, much more advanced in every thinkable aspect. And I like it alot! In most of the '90s flight sims you usually had some campaigns that could generate random missions, you were part of a squadron, etc. This was nice for what it was back then but now it wouldn't suffice anymore I guess, unless it would be very good and immersive. So what do you guys do in DCS? Do you create a lot of scenarios and play them? Do you just fly around perfecting your maneuvering skills? Got custom scenarios/campaigns from others? (know any good ones??) I am asking this question because at first, when learning Black Shark last year I was a bit put off by the linear campaign and having to fly the same route to the objective again for 1hr should I crash. But now, because I started playing more and more BS while waiting for DCS A10, I am really starting to appreciate the beauty of the DCS series. And I mean really really appreciate it :) I really like flying it, even if it is just random free flight. All the modeling, physics, graphics and so on is fabulous. Also I kind of discovered the mission editor where I just make tactical scenarios for myself. But I want more of course :) In short, I am looking for new ways to enjoy the DCS series. Ways I might not have discovered yet. What do you guys do in the sim and what would you advise me to do to get the most out of it? Finally, I have attached a small mission I made in the editor for DCS A10 Beta. There are Tornado's doing ALARM strikes, F15's and B1's with JSOW's, AH64 which will listen to you for go-code, AI Air-to-Air combat and of course lots of dropping bombs and shooting mavs. I used it for training and every day I added something to it and in the end I thought I might as well share it. Basically just a kill-em-all with some AI tossed in. Try it and tell me if it sucks or not :) Allright, see you in the virtual skies!Wakeupcall.miz I7920/12GBDDR3/ASUS P6T DELUXE V2/MSI GTX 960 GAMING 4G /WIN 10 Ultimate/TM HOTAS WARTHOG
