Shaman Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 US smart bombs require critical technology that has been monopolized by China. It is obvious that China is emerging as global superpower and will dictate future world politics. http://www.bloomberg.com/video/63400346/ PS. Chinese embassy in Belgrade was destroyed by US smart weapon. Entire world was awaiting for China's response to this event. After several days through diplomatic channels China's message was something like: "We have time for our response". 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
RIPTIDE Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) Well what really is happening here is the widely reported news about CHina halting Rare Earth metal exports. China produces anything from 95% to 97% of all the Rare Earths. The reason been is that the extraction process for these elements is devastating to the enviroment unless you spend a lot of money on mitigating the effects... which makes it unprofitable in the West. the Chinese are willing to mine these metals at a cheap price regardless of environmental impact. But this is no surprise. The CHinese have notified the world for several years now that it will be curtailing exports of rare metals. The same story ran last year. There is some reasons for this measure. If you are in High Tech industry, electronic components, radars etc etc, and it becomes a problem to acquire these raw materials you can simply fire your staff in Rhine Valley, or California and move your plant to China. :) There are no such shortages of rare metals IN China. Only outside. Because you are in a high tech industry you also move your Intellectual Property and high tech process to China. Where it will be no longer yours. And your video that is in your post demonstrates precisely what I said is happening. The Beograd Chinese embassy bombing is an entirely irrelevant comment. Shaman Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 Thanks for describing it in more details. Whether it is relevant or not, it just came to my mind when I was watching this video. You might find it irrelevant, but I heard a whisper in my mind. It has been over a decade since this event, I know. Anyway I have read few articles recently about China halting rare metal exports due to their importance for their own industry. It is time to recycle electronics more then before... and mine asteroids ;) 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

It is time to recycle electronics more then before... and mine asteroids Here's the thing. There is no shortage of Rare Earth Metals outside of CHina, in the ground. Rare Earth is sort of a bad name for them (only some of them are really rare).. they are found in minuscule quanities in the rocks but there are a lot of rocks with them... if you understand my meaning. There are large proven deposits, but many of these mines and the associated processes have been decommissioned. It would take 2-5 years to get them back up and running. See those mines in the video? I think the entire market of rare metals is only a few thousand tons of them a year. but I heard a whisper in my mind. hmmm.,... Doctor might have some medication for that. Edited November 7, 2010 by RIPTIDE [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Shaman Posted November 7, 2010 Author Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) I do know how open mining works and how much ground has to be excavated and filtered to find just a bit of rare material. I truly hope we will recycle more instead of turning Earth landscapes into wastelands - especially to fulfill such terrible demand as is - more weapons.. hmmm.,... Doctor might have some medication for that. I am the healer around here :) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60507 Edited November 7, 2010 by Shaman 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
