Bahger Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I'm probably missing something very simple here but here's my problem: TIR works beautifully in A-10 except that the Pause, Recenter and Precision functions do not work in-game. - I have tried running both programs (TIR and A-10) as Admin; no luck. - The commands, mapped to my HOTAS, function perfectly in the TIR camera screen but not the sim; for example, pausing TIR does not cause the camera LEDs to react as it should. - I am using unique keys (up, down, left arrows) not used in the game. I have not deleted or altered any commands in the A-10 Options/Controls menu. - I have not run TIR in a while. It appeared to me that it updated the software from within the main TIR GUI, as it offered me an update and listed the game. However, if I need to manually delete and replace the TIR drivers/software in Windows (Vista) please let me know. I'd really appreciate an assist. Without functional recenter and pause, TIR loses a lot of its utility for me.
Nightcargo Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I use the Warthog S3 button for TIR center. I have to exclusive load the profile to make it work for some reason. Asus Rampage II i7 920 @ 3.8 EVGA580GTX 6G Corsair WinVista64 Hog
Panzertard Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I use the Warthog S3 button for TIR center. I have to exclusive load the profile to make it work for some reason. I've actually used exclusive profile too for quite a while, same profile for all my sims - and no problem using one of the buttons on the Throttle BTN21 for centering. Not using the others - disabled pause and precision. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
KillaALF Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 How is your TIR software set up? Have you ticked all the checkboxes, "Trap" is the one responsible in your case, I think.
KillaALF Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Oh and the arrow keys are in fact used by the sim, so you have to clear out those entries, actually, I believe that's your culprit right there, not the TIR settings. edit: Sorry for the doublepost, I actually wanted to edit my previous post, but clicked the wrong button
Bahger Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) You're right, the arrow keys are in use by the sim for pitch/roll. No wonder I've been unable to get TIR to work! EDIT: Still won't work. The sim just won't recognise TIR commands mapped via my CH HOTAS using unique keys. Yet every other HOTAS function works just fine. Edited November 16, 2010 by Bahger
KillaALF Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Have you tried other keys yet? I use Keypad 5, 8 and 9 myself. And did you check the TIR setting?
Bahger Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 Can somebody advise? I do not understand why, no matter which keys I enter in my CH HOTAS, they will be recognised in the TIR camera view but not in the sim!
Bahger Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) OK I fixed it but there are hoops to jump through. It might be convenient if they were visible to other users of A-10, TrackIR and CH HOTAS (might apply to other HOTAS systems, too). - TIR5, like A-10, has to be run "As Administrator" after right-clicking the executable or it won't recognise keyboard control inputs. - If you program TIR to your HOTAS, fire up TIR before you start your HOTAS software. It needs to be running when CH Control Manager downloads a map that includes TIR assignments. - TIR profiles have to be loaded and run as "Exclusive", with keys "Trapped". Save your profile, associate it with A-10 in the games list and never uncheck "Exclusive". It's basically voodoo to me but finally it works. Edited November 16, 2010 by Bahger
