Chuck_Yeager Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Hey, so I just bought and installed a clean copy of Lock On Flaming Cliffs 2. I can load the menu and open up the editor with out a problem. However, every time I try to load the actual simulation, the game crashes while loading. For example, If I click "Quick Start" at the main menu and select any plane, the main menu will minimize and open a loading window. The game will then always crash at the same spot in the loading like in this picture: http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/1961/fc2crash.jpg My specs are as follows: Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Basic 32bit(6.0, Build 6002) Service Pack 2 System Manufacturer: ASUSTEK COMPUTER INC System Model: P5W DH Deluxe Processor: Intel® Core2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz Memory: 3198MB RAM Page File: 1605MB used, 5010MB available DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS Any help is appreciated as it is rather frustrating not being able to play the game after buying it  Thanks!
EtherealN Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Could you do the event viewer stuff listed here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=868859&postcount=4 You should hopefully find entries for simulator.exe in there. From this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=52089 A DxDiag might also offer insight, details in that thread. Chuck_Yeager Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 Ok so I did the things listed in the two threads and got some more information. I started the game and let it crash. Then I saved an "Information" and "Error" log from the Event Viewer Application Log that were relevant. I also looked at the reliability monitor, but all it showed was "simulator.exe" crashing over and over. I also ran the check disk but it didn't seem to find anything too interesting. Also, I'm not sure if its relevant or not, but I bought the digital download version of FC2 and used the torrent to download it. Also, after simulator.exe crashes, it goes back to the menu "debriefing screen." Let me know if you need any more information. Hope this helps! Attached is a DxDiag.txt file, an "Information.txt" and "Error.txt" from the Event Viewer, and some .CRASH and error.log files from the "...Flaming Cliffs 2/Temp" folder all compressed in a .rar file.Crash.rar
EtherealN Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) Do you have NewView installed? If so, try uninstalling that. EDIT: If uninstalling NewView works, you can try installing it under a different folder name. I've seen renaming or uninstalling NewView solve this problem in IL-2 and FC.
