2. Wellll, I hope what you do late in the evenings has nothing to do with my picture, even if I do look like your brother.

Oh crap! I should have seen that one coming... :megalol:

Allright. Let's try to salvage this thread:

What are your plans for the Cougar MFD's?

I am just going to mount them on either side of my schval screen. Similar to what you did with yours.

Love it.

May redesign mine a bit. I am not working with wood yet. Still in the CAD phase. I think its holding me back as its pretty simple and CAD is just making it more complex I think.

How did you attach your wood together? Looks like just 3/8" plywood screwed together. Does it seem strong enough? I was thinking of using 2x4s as the corners so the Plywood has something sturdy to attach to.

What is your desk height?

Is 3/8" about 10 millimeters? I so, I think that's a little too thin. I used 18 mm plywood all the way and I have three 2x4s to keep things together. Two under the seat and one in the rear of my pit.

I used all 1/2" Plywood for the sidewalls and the side shelves. I used 3/4" Plywood for everything else. You gotta remember, I used only scraps of wood I already had in my garage for this project. For what I built, I think its sturdy enough as a desk, but I wouldn't want to sit on it. I also reinforced it as well with 3/4 inch plywood underneath the side shelves.

I'm glad that this project gave you some ideas as well.

How comfortable is the center stick? I have been trying to figure out a good height for my G940 as well. I want center stick since I have A10 and BS as my sims. Also will give me area on the right shelf for my keyboard and mouse. I have a 22" main and a 22" touch. My touch will go where your Shkval is, and main above. Till I can afford a 32" or 36" 1080P for main. Height of your uhh, stick looks natural, but seems the damn G940 base is a bit in the way for rudder comfort.

I have scrap 2x4s and no plywood which is why I am thinking of making a frame of studs and just a single sheet of ply should do all my shelves and such.

No idea where this monster is going to go. My wife aint gonna like it though. Too bad for her. :)

Actually the stick is very comfortable where I have it. I designed it that way. I have the stick base resting comfortably on my lap. Just build the joystick extension about an inch lower than the height of your lap with your feet firmly planted on the floor. It does not interfere with your rudders at all. I have no problem with my legs moving around freely. Just having it extend out from your desk makes it more comfortable.

Not to jack your thread, but do you see any issues with my design? You have built yours so you may have insight I am not thinking of.

This is the basic shape. I have a stack of 2x4s in my garage waiting to be put to good use. I have a center pad for the joystick like yours but if its not comfortable I can stick it in a hole in the right shelf to match the left one. The left and right side will be complete units. The center monitor stand will be bolted to the sides making it sturdy and also able to break down for easy moving. My desk chair seat height is 18".

Hope to start my own thread this weekend when I start building it.

No joke...

A major brainfart though. What I meant was I have one 2x4 in the front and two 2x4's under the seat.

And no 2x4's inserted up in my ass :music_whistling:
