The best way to not get shot down is to not get shot at in the first place ;)

Without sollutions there aren't any problems

A-10C has the Missile Warning Systems which provides an alert when a missile is detected, based on the smoke plume from its exhaust - so it works for IR missiles. It can also automatically engage countermeasures.

Also, the damage model is more nuanced than in FC2. So you might find the aircraft to be a bit more survivable in DCS. I can't disagree with jazjar's advice though. :D

Wow...so the A-10 is cabable of detecting ir missle launch. Is that system just as reliable as it picks up radar missile launches?

Well, the main problem is my wingman! I have tried to use him as bait. Sent him high up as being a shooting duck so i could take down the samsite. And when i get a good mav lock end fire the mav, they shoot my killing mav out of the air.

Looking further at the mission: There is a friendly AI pack that consists of 2 Su25's. I have a A-10 wingmen. The enemy has tripple A, sams and two choppers.

As i come near at the wz, i order my wingmen to engage the sams and i go for the choppers. Either way, my wing is being shot within 10 sec. Than i hear the ingress of the 2 SU25. It only takes 30 sec before they get shot.

So i am all alone against tripple A, sams and choppers. So i must be smart and turn around, going home for hot coffee which means i failed the mission...At least i didnt got shot down...

Yes, and radar-guided missiles are also detected by the RWR as expected, so there's two methods for them being detected. It's a very nice system.

That's not very nice!

Yep, they'll do that. Cool, isn't it? :) If you really want to kill a SAM you can fire two Mavs at it in quick succession, they normally won't be able to cope with that. For extra points, have your wingman launch one and you launch the other. That looks pretty neat.

To your point... I think the AI do a somewhat better job of evading SAMs in A-10C than in FC2, in particular they seem to survive against Tunguskas better (although this may be because the Tunguskas are overly keen to fire at the edge of their range). But the AI does still have a tendency to react to SAM launches by slowing down, flying lower, and flying toward the SAM site... after first ditching all the stores they'd need to complete the mission. But overall, the AI aircraft behaviour does seem improved.

So umm, I don't really know. I don't like flying with AI wingmen, so I tend not to use them, and I mostly fly missions I make for myself so the air defense threat is reasonable or I have enough SEAD flights to demolish it beforehand. Ideally proper SAMs would taken out by other flights, since they're not really the A-10's purpose.

But, in DCS: A-10C you have the targeting pod and precision munitions, so you can fly above some SAMs and drop bombs on them. ;)
