Weta43 Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Don't you think a neutral coalition would be a good idea for the follow up? Particularly if there's going to be a continued emphasis on ground attack? Part of a missions success criteria could be not killing civilians (neutrals) & have them count as negative scores on line. I thought of this because to practice using the SU25T I put together a little village with a command post, a munitions store, several civilian structures : farms, garages, houses, etc, a checkpoint at each end of town, a couple of Avengers, a Gepard, a couple of M2A2, an M1 & then took off & flew at it from about 30km. As soon as I turned on the camera I could see the "enemy" units because they show up before the fixed objects, which meant I could lock on anything that showed without knowing what it was... So I went back & put in "civilian" vehicles - trucks, cars etc, but they had to be "enemies or the military vehicles would destroy them as soon as I hit "S". Now I had to take more care when picking targets on the TV screen, as for my own task I set the goal of not hitting the cars etc, so I had to wait till the target was big enough on the screen to identify before launching anything. Having taken the town I then moved on to attack the nearby enemy airfield, ground units & Patriot SAM site. I moved some of my own T80, AAA & SAM ground units up into the town as cover, but the first thing they wanted to do is blow up all the "civilian" vehicles from the opposite coalition. If this were online the other side would now be again able to lock up any unit that showed on the TV screen in the village before the buildings appeared safely knowing that it has to belong to my side. For online games a bit of neutral "clutter" would surely be useful during missions moving back & forth over a town (with ground units trying to move up at appropriate times) & if used properly might even add some randomness to the game (If both the civilian & a military unit both intend to end up in the same place, then depending on who gets slowed down by destroyed vehicles etc, that spot could hold either an enemy unit or a civilian vehicle & the other would have found some alternative space). Maybe civilian vehicles could come to a halt when within say 3km of a military plane (which would make mixed ground groups moving along roads break up nicely when attacked) & civilian planes could still react evasively if locked on. Cheers.
GGTharos Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 ...And it's not going to happen. I asked for it before and the answer was 'not in lomac'. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
VapoR Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 GG, he said "for the followup". Of course this won't be in Lomac.
