Hi all,

Is it possible to edit the db_countries.lua to use the correct ranks for other countries, and to also update the unit roster for selectable units in the mission editor. For example, add infantry units for the UK?

I will have a play when I get home, but wondering if anyone had tried this.

Will this also have a knock on effect in MP, i.e. will my client report an integrity check fail due to files being edited?

Cheers

Just to update this, for anyone curious.

I managed to add troops to the UK compliment of forces, by copying:

cnt_unit( "Soldier M4"),

from the USA section in db_countries.lua, and placed it in the UK section.

In the mission editor I can now include British troops (using an M4 of course though).

I also changed the second parameter in the rank definitions, but this had no impact immediatly, and creating a new pilot did not pick up the new rank.

I changed my rank automaticaly using the players.lua file, I will have to see what happens when I get a promotion.

I have also managed to get online after making these changes, so it appears from initial findings that the integrity check does not use these files.

Obtained a promotion last night. The message reported "Promoted to Flying Officer", so it appears that the method above works.

Hi,

Look This : New countries . It work's for DCS KA-50 as well as Lockon FC2

You can't change rank names. I tried it and they must be the same for all countries (I tested the correct translation for each countrie). If you change the name it will not work for other countries.

There are also errors in the ranks for France the stripes for first lieutenant are not correct and 2nd lieutenant does not exist in the LO form it's "aspirant"

You can add units or change units as you like.

You can change many things, you just have to be carefull.
