NTHUSIMCES2011.jpg

Here are two of the setups I helped build for AMD. These were shown off at CES 2011 in January. The one on the left is two BenQ W1000 with edge blending and two D-Box fully actuated home theater chairs. The right pic is three Optoma GT720 with edge blending and a Virtual-GT racing sim. The screen on the right I use in my basement with the rig I'm typing on. (Just wish I had that Virtual-GT racing simpit too *chuckle*) That screen was used at both the AMD 6800-series launch last October and the AMD CES 2011 setup in January.

My simpit is a real F-84F fuselage/cockpit that I purchased in 2008. Here it is in storage at the moment. I've got a TON of work left to do on it, but once it's done it's gonna be a lot of fun. Sure, it's no Warthog...it's one of the Warthog's grandparents though. Both came out of the thunder factory. :)

Question- is there a type of common hardware that could be used to solidly mount a stick and throttle to a chair (stick in center/ throttle to side) Preferably with some kind of articulating arm that could be adjusted to the right position- then secured.. I realize I would have to fabricate the actual mounting platform, but if the "mounting arm" is out there- that would be great.

I have snooped around a little in plumbing sections etc but have not seen much that could be adapted for this purpose yet..

I would caution you against center mounting a stick. It seems these sticks are not designed to be used that way comfortably (your wrist will constantly be torqued to keep your hand square on the stick). Also it increases fatigue because you can't rest your arm. Over time playing with your wrist like that may even lead to serious permanent damage.

Definitely like the obutto. In fact- that is a likely purchase for me once I finish re-assembling my divorce/sold home/new job becomes full time life. ;)

That other link looks great. I was hoping I could find something cheap I could adapt to a cheap chair when I move to my temp. digs in the next couple of days. No room for my nice big desk. I have to make a small sewing table work as a pit for a while.. Kind of cool in one way- it has a nice angled platform for my CH pedals... Nice link.. thanks...

LoL the roger is mainly a PVC water tubulation. At least it cheap.

As for center mounted, i would advise agaisnt it too if the joy can t be turned like the Warthog.

But as its a tubulation stuff that is easy to find in any place, you just have to adapt.

Just got my Cougar MFD's today - what a difference they make! :D

Right now I'm just waiting on HawgTouch to support the STEAM version of A-10C, then I'll be all set.

Yeah it makes things so much easier than having to lean/squash about with TrackIR, holding still to push buttons. Plus removing the cockpit is a nice boost to FPS, too :)

It's hard to explain to people who have not used it what the difference is, but once you've flown with a setup like that it's REALLY hard to go back.

Hi, :smilewink:

Thanks for the compliments ... I appreciate your support.

The cockpit is “slightly” modified Akers-Barnes Cockpit

As for the FMC/CDU on the right side … it is an Engravity model and is for MS FS (Microsoft flight simulator)

The mini keyboard should function as UFC and is “copied” from Mr Burns idea for which I am thankful to him.

Have fun while :pilotfly:
