So I just got a new computer, and did a fresh install of beta 2 (kept it for Nevada, awaiting final release).

Anyways, I saved the input folder from my previous PC.

Will this input folder help me in avoiding reprogramming each button on my Hotas Cougas?

If so, how is this done?

Many thanks, Diego

First: all indications are that the Nevada map won't be included in the final release, but will come some time after the game is released. I would guess at least a few months. So hanging on to an ancient beta probably isn't a hugely viable long-term strategy. A lot of the testers do have multiple versions installed so you could perhaps consider doing that.

For the controller configuration, just have a look in Input\Aircrafts\A-10C\joystick (and also \keyboard, \mouse, etc. if you've customised those) and compare the config files from your new install to those you saved. You should see files with {lots-of-hexadecimal-characters} appended to their names, which represent the config files for your particular controllers.

If you copy in your saved configs and overwrite them, you should be fine (might be an idea to back up the vanilla/clean config settings before doing so, just in case).

However I would only recommend doing that for the same version, i.e. if you saved your settings from beta 2, then copying them into a clean beta 2 install would be fine. It's better to just go through and re-do your configuration when each beta is released, since they tend to make changes to the controller config which you'll miss out on if you use the settings from an older beta.

All that said, if you backed up the entire 'input' directory from a beta 2 install, you ought to be able to simply replace the clean one with your backup copy to get your settings back, without checking the individual files. However it might be informative/interesting to do the individual files, anyway.

thank you for the response.

I ended up just going back and re-setting the controls (took a little while lol)

As for sticking with Beta-2...I figure I got used to it, why leave before the final comes out.

I've heard horror stories of fps going crazy, and I want no part in that lol

Thanks again! Diego
