vegachavez Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 When using my targeting pod I had an option to deploy my weapons on or near a target by selecting either "area" or "point" to deliver my chosen weapon. I just downloaded the final download for the A-10 and wondering if that option has been changed? I can`t seem to replicate that option. What am iIdoing wrong or is the option no longer available in the final version Thanks.
SmokeyTheLung Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Not sure I'm understanding you correctly, TMS up short will switch the pods "mode" from area to point. Point is generally used for tracking a moving object, I believe that it locks onto image contrast in a similar way as the maverick. Employing weapons for a point/area effect is something entirely different and is unrelated to the terminology of the pod. As far as I know none of the weapons used require the pod to be in either mode. System specifications: Computer, joystick, DCS world, Beer
vegachavez Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Believe it or not you answered my question...problem was I was not sure how to phrase it. In short you answer solved my problem. Many Thanks : )
recoil17 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Also, you can't change the tracking mode if the targeting pod is masked or close to being masked. You can tell this by a flashing "M" on the hud and TGP, meaning it is about to be masked, and "M" steady, meaning it is currently masked. That means that a part of the aircraft is blocking the view of the targeting POD. "Simultaneous selection of fuel dump and afterburner during high AOA maneuvering may cause fuel to ignite with resulting fuselage damage."
