That's the way they behave in recent firmware.

With launch firmware, the 5 would stay on all the time.

No, mines does the same, or they used to.

They would only light up for 1 second and then the 5 lights would go out again, however that was with the old TARGET software, the Release candidate version.

They have just released the proper version of target, you can now control the LED's and enable the 5 circle lights.

download it now and get all your lights working properly.

With me, whatever I set my LEDS to. it remains. If I set my leds to off in the target software, when I reboot they remain off, if I set them to on, when I reboot they turn on, works perfect.

As without target 1.0 I had no control over my LEDS, but now I do and if you ask me, it works perfect.

I would try a different usb port and see if when you turn leds off in a new port if it stays off after a reboot.

Also I would uninstall target, delete everything to do with it, look for anything to do with thrustmaster and target in your program files folder and if you use vista or windows 7, in your user folder.

Delete everything you find so long as it doesnt have to do with the actual drivers for the stick, then reinstall target again and try the led options again, as maybe you didnt get a good install of target and some old target files are mixed in with the new target files, thus causing you problems ?

i did try to do a system restore to a date where before i got my warthog, i deleted the folder after uninstall the target and the driver

did a fresh install but still same, before this the 5 led work fine, it stay on during reboot and goes off when enter windows, but then i had this problem whereby the LED come back when i set it to turn off. so i tried to revert back to firmware 18 and thats it, the 5 LED no longer stay untill enter windows, it now stay for 1 sec then go off, when i go back to firmware 20 its still the same

Im using winxp 32 bit

I suspect bumfire has his throttle plugged into a port that remains powered on even when the computer is rebooted.

Try physically unplugging your throttle, wait 5 sec, then plug it back in. I'm guessing you'll get the main panel at full brightness with the 5 at the top "off".

That's what I'm trying to say - that _is_ the way it works and there's no way to get it to do anything different.

wait by default the 5 led upon boot up your PC, during the handshake it should stay on all the time right? once complete handshake the 5 led will go off and all other light will come up, as i know this is the way it works, but my 5 led never come up during handshake

No. Unless you turn them on yourself, the 5 will only come on very briefly (quick flash).

confused :(

About what? You've said the same thing, over and over...

Does your 5 LED lights up when you boot up your PC, mine only lightup for 1 second then goes away

i have the latest target but my light only will come up for 1 second then go away

on firmware 20

in another thread i posted that when i reboot the led come back, it like never save my settings, if i turn al led off and reboot it come back on

did a fresh install but still same, before this the 5 led work fine, it stay on during reboot and goes off when enter windows, but then i had this problem whereby the LED come back when i set it to turn off. so i tried to revert back to firmware 18 and thats it, the 5 LED no longer stay untill enter windows, it now stay for 1 sec then go off, when i go back to firmware 20 its still the same

plugged in during reboot, the 5 led never stay on, all other light come up after logon to windows

As I keep trying to tell you, this is exactly 100% the way it is supposed to work.

OLD (pre 18) firmware:

Plug in throttle

5 LED come on until handshake, then 5 LED turn off and rest of stick turns off

NEW (18+) firmware

Plug in throttle. Get quick flash from 5 LEDs.

Once throttle is recognized by windows, backlight LEDs come on.

With 18/20 firmware, it will not behave the way it did before 18.

It will not "remember" the LED settings from an actual power off (d/c computer from mains or unplug throttle from computer) - when you do this the above sequence (new firmware) will always occur.

If you leave throttle plugged into a powered hub (or a motherboard that keeps power on the LED), then the throttle will "seem" to remember the last state because the throttle isn't actually getting reset like this.

What's confusing?

Yea Teej, I tried turning off the pc and leaving it off for ages and then rebooting back up into windows, the lights stay off.

I then tried just a normal reboot when I was in windows, like you would do with a new driver install, once it rebooted the lights remained off.

However, on my third attempt, which was shutdown pc, unplug the stick, both usb wires and then plug them in 30 seconds later, upon booting back into windows, the leds lit up with the exception of the 5 circles.

So my mobo obviously powers the usb ports when shutdown and rebooting thus saving any settings I set for my stick, but if I unplug the throttle from the usb port, I need to redo the settings.

It wont bother me as I leave my stick plugged in all the time, but I just posted this so that you know what the situation was at my end.

Basically a 5 second usb unplug will reset the stick led settings, as you were already aware of.
